My mother is a librarian and I grew up in and around libraries. I love books and reading. I was fortunate to work for 2 years in the largest public library system in the United States - the Los Angeles Public Library. I got to be around three of my favorite things - people, books and computers.
I worked in a branch library, and at Central: in Circulation, Computer Center, History, Cataloging.
I got my start in computers when I was 12, in Vienna, when I learned BASIC in exchange for teaching English. When I turned 13, my uncle gave me an IBM PC compatible computer and I read the MS-DOS 3.30 manual cover to cover. It was heaps of fun.
At Brandeis University, I worked at the Help Desk and specialized in VAX/VMS support.
After that I went to EarthLink where I earned my wings as a Unix systems administrator.
